Boys Night Out - Tuesday August 28th, 2007

1. Can you please state your name and tell what you do in the band.

My name is Jeff and I play guitar.

2. How has the tour been going with Scary Kids Scaring Kids?

It's been going pretty good. We're having a lot of fun and the shows are going well. So yeah, it's good.

3. Has anything interesting or crazy happened so far?

Uhm... some guys got arrested in Delaware and spent the night in jail, so theres that. But other than that it's been pretty normal.

4.  You came out with a new record back in June, did you find yourself
more excited for that album more so than your previously released
records?

No, there was probably the same level of excitement as previous released records.

5. How do you think your fans enjoyed it and were you proud of the
outcome?

I think the majority of the fans that stuck with us through Trainwreck and through our change in sounds appreciated the new stuff and seemed to be enjoying it and we're all really happy with the outcome. We love the songs and we love the way it sounds.

6. When you guys had the final product in your hand and were ready to
release the CD, were you afraid that the change in your sound would
alienate your fanbase at all?

No, we're not really afraid of that. We know that our sound is always changing and with that we'll lose fans and gain fans. We know that there's always a chance that we're going to alienate some fans and not everyone is going to like what we're doing. We're more so just into it to write songs that we love playing and that we have fun playing with. There was a risk and we knew it but we were willing to take it.

7. What track off of the new record has the most significance to it and
why?

I would say "Up With Me" just because it's about changes and redemption and second chances. We all connect pretty heavily with the song.

8. Did anything inparticuliarly influence the writing process?

I don't know about that. Not anything imparticular. We always write about where we are in our lives and the record is reflective of that. I don't know if there's anything imparticular that caused us to be in that state or caused the record to be what it's about. It's definitely about where we're at as band and in our lives. I don't know exactly what influenced that.

9. Some of your song titles have nothing to do with the song in general,
so how do you normally come up with the witty titles?

Sometimes like with Trainwreck they all had to do with the songs and sometimes they have nothing to do with the songs. With our older stuff it was movie titles or quotes from movies or tv shows. Sometimes it will be significant and other times it will be totally random.

10. Have you ever felt the need to push yourself to obtain a certain
status, such as the bands that reach the top on the TRL countdown or the
Billboard charts?

There's always pressure to better ourselves, to get better as a band, challenge ourselves, and write better music. There's never any specific urge to top the charts or write hit singles or be a big band. We're always about writing what we consider as better music in our eyes.

11. So it's been talked about that a lot of bands on the same label
sound the same. Being on Ferret Records along with Misery Signals, who
are a well-known band, did you ever feel you needed to sound more like
them?

No, not at all. We've always been like the outcast or the odd man out on our label and that's just kind of been our thing on Ferret. We've never tried to sound heavy or poppier because of our label. The songs just come out the way they come out.

12. What has influenced Boys Night Out the most over the past few years,
since you first started out?

I think if anything, just the fact that we have been in this band for 6 or 7 years and we've been touring and it's been our lives. I think that's apparent on the new record that it's definitely what we're all about and that we've gone through a lot of changes. That's a pretty significant part of what we're about as a band.

13. There happen to be a more bands out there today with females in
them. Do you feel as though it was a loss when Kara made the decision to
leave in early 2006 or do you think it was for the better?
I don't really know. Long term, it was for the better because it just wasn't really working out with her in the band. She wanted to do her own things and we had our own direction that we wanted to go. She helped on the record Trainwreck, she did the keyboard and she sang so that was cool. But I think longterm it was better that she left the band.

14. Do you feel as though the band has become stronger through the loss
of original band members over the years?

I think so. Well now, we are as close to our original line-up as we've ever been. We have our old drummer back, Ben. The only new guy in the band is our guitar player, Andy. I think it definitely has made us stronger because the existing members have learned to bined together stronger and write together better.

15. We all know how the record companies feel about downloading of
music and leaking of new albums, how do you as a musician feel about
it?

If people download it and like it and then go out and buy it, that's great. If not and they're a fan then come out to the show and buy a ticket or a tshirt. As long as they're showing support in some way that can further our continuation as a band that we can keep touring and writing then I am all for it. I don't think they necessarily have to buy the album but as long as they are showing support in some way that can help benefit us then I am okay with it.

16. Is there anything you would like to say to your fans, or anyone else
that's going to read this?

Nope.
Okay well thank you for your time.
