I interviewed Brendan and George from Valencia before their show in Philadelphia on July 24, 2006.

1. Introduce who you are and tell what you do in the band.

George and I playbass. Brendan and I play guitar.

2. Can you give a little background on the band, such as how you formed, where you got the name, ect.?

George : Brendan, JD, and I have been playing in bands since we were fifteen. When those bands broke up we still wanted to keep playing. We asked Shane and Max (who we knew from our old bands playing shows together) if they wanted to write some songs. They said yes and the rest is just history. Valencia is a town in Spain whose history fit the history of the band, so we felt that it was the best choice for our name.

3. How would you classify the music you play?

Brendan: We have a hard time answering that question for the most part but we like to say that we play pop punk with sort of a twist. We play what we like and it comes out as sort of random genres sometimes.

4. Coming out of Philadelphia you have developed a pretty good fanbase. How do you feel about this and do people ever recognize you walking down the street?

George: It's awesome seeing so many familiar faces every time we play Philly. Sometimes when we are at the mall people will recognize us but its all good because we consider them our friends and we love hanging out with them.

5. Your album, "This could be a possibility" came out almost a year ago, if I am correct. How do you think the record sales have been, in your opinion?

Brendan: I think we've been very successful since our record came out. Sales have been awesome and gone beyond our expectations so were excited to see where things go from there.

6. What's your favorite song off the album, and why?

George : My favorite song is 'The Closest I am to Living Life on the Edge.' It's my favorite to play live and I think it came out the best on the album.

7. When you sit down to write songs what comes to your mind to help progress them?

Brendan: We just use our daily lives and things that are real and mean a lot to us. We have songs about our home town and how much we love it. Songs about touring and our lives and even songs about friendship and relationships. We just make music that we love and we can relate to.

8. What's your favorite and least favorite part about touring?

George : The best part is getting to see a new town every day, but the worst is missing your friends and family, and hearing about all the things that go on while we are away.

9. If you could tour with any band, who woiuld it be and why?

Brendan: We would tour with Thin Dark Line and New Atlantic because they are our absolute best friends.

10. Do you have any crazy touring stories you'd like to share?

George: Ehh not really... We spend a lot of time online instead of getting into weird situations. At least not brendan and I.

11. Where is your favorite city/venue to play on tour?

Brendan: I love playing in new places all the time but I love coming back to new england and seeing all our friends at shows.

12. Do you have anything in store-a new record, any big upcoming tours?

George: We are writing now but in the meantime we are touring pretty much until november or december.

13. I have to ask, where is this place on Tenth Street, that you sing about in your song?

Brendan : 10th and montgomery by Temple University.

14. Who are some of your influences that have encouraged you to play music?

George: Definitely Saves the Day or Midtown but we listen to pretty much everything and draw our ideas from their songs.

15. What is one goal you have for the band- one thing you want to achieve while you're together playing music?

Brendan: Our first goal was to tour japan and we are doing that next week. Next... We want a bus haha

16. What are some bands that you're currently listening to?

George : I love lifetime and blink182, but we always listen to new stuff every chance we get.

17. How do you feel about what's going on in the world? (War, politics, ect.)

Brendan: All the problems in the world are stuff that bum us out and we use music as a way to break away from those problems and hopefully make everyone that hears it feel better about life.

18. What's one thing you guys cannot live without when on the road or at home?

George: Easily an ipod or our laptops.

19. Tell us something very crazy or random about Valencia that no one else would know.

Brendan: Three fifths of us are vegetarians

20. Have you ever been to Valencia, Spain?

George : No but that is the town we are named after.

21. In your opinion what makes Philadelphia so great, that it "makes you feel home"?

Brendan: We all lived there at one point or another and we love our home town.

22. If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?

George and Brendan : Rob Hitt and Alex Sarti

23. We'll, I think that pretty much wraps it up. Is there anything you'd like to say to anyone reading this and Valencia fans out there?
